Part 2 is the “Talk like a storyteller” round. You get a cue card and one minute to plan. Instead of fear, use strategy.
1. Learn a Universal Structure
Use a four-piece story sandwich:
- What it is
- When/where it happened
- What you did
- How you felt + why
You can reuse this for 90% of questions.
2. The “Past Memory Trick”
Turn almost any question into:
“This reminds me of a time…”
Instant content. No blank brain.
3. Extend Your Answer with Reason Chains
Use linking:
- “because”
- “which means”
- “as a result”
- “so”
One idea magically becomes four sentences.
4. Focus on Fluency Over Perfection
IELTS examiners don’t bite your grammar mistakes. Speak continuously like pouring tea.
Sample Cue Card Mini-Answer
Describe a place you enjoy visiting.
I love visiting the Padma Riverbank near Rajshahi. Every weekend, the sunset paints the water in gold, which always relaxes my mind. I go there with friends to laugh and escape stress. It reminds me that nature can heal even on the toughest days.
Short. Smooth. Human.
